Sister Water

Sister Water is the guardian of water in all its forms, from the oceans and seas to the rivers, streams and lakes. She is found in the rain and in the tears shed by us all, Sister Water is constantly moving and affecting the landscapes around her. Perhaps Sister Water, as the child of Mother Earth could be equated to the Goddess Soren, revered in Soora, the goddess of healing and of childbirth. She represents all the creatures who live in water, and is known for her hexagonal fishing nets and for her fish. Sister Water also represents the Moon, with its draw on the tides, and the opposite to the sun represented by her brother, Brother Fire.

Sister Water is represented by the pearl in the Amulet of Protection. Pearls are found in shells, as detailed in the book, and come in a wide range of colours and shapes and sizes, from tiny seed pearls to perfectly spherical ones, and from pure white through honey shades to pale pink and dark grey.

The ceramic models of the Elemental family were made by me as I explored them in my writing, and as examples of what Brother Zaan's wood carving might have looked like. They are just one interpretation of an invisible entity.
Sister Water's robe is coloured in various shades of blue and sea-green and shows the waves and raindrops. In her arms she holds a fish, her symbolic animal, which stands for all of the creatures which live in water rather than air.
