Make a salve

Instructions

In Flammeus, there are several mentions of salves and other physics made and used by Talla and Achillea, including their special salve for Maren.
This recipe is for a simple salve which can be used for dry skin. You can use any essential oil you like, but be sure you include that special beeswax - which of course Talla got from her own beehives!

Ingredients
50 ml olive oil(or almond oil)
25 ml  beeswax(pellets or solid, grated)
25 ml  coconut oil(solid)
1 tsp  honey(optional)
20 drops or so essential oil - either blended or single scent. Add more if you want a stronger scent.

Put the beeswax in a glass dish and place the dish in a pan of simmering water, like a double boiler. Don't let any water get into the oil.
Once the beeswax is melted, add the coconut oil, honey and the olive oil and blend using a spoon. Add your choice of scented oils. You might want to choose your favourite oil of the day as they would in the Temple!
When all the ingredients are melted, pour the salve into your choice of clean glass or metal containers
Check  Colours and Days for details of which scent is associated with which day.
This salve is great for hard working hands, or dry and cracked feet, or to soothe dry skin. It is a salve and not a cream, and therefore it is quite rich - you only need a little! Its great to use overnight, especially on your feet or on your cuticles.
Please make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients before you use it!!
